Purolator Fuel Filter

Purolator Fuel Filter
I have a 2004.5 Dodge Ram with the CTD. It only has about 6K on it since I use it to pull my trailer. I m going on a longer trip next week and decided that maybe I should change the fuel filter since it is almost 3 years old. I tried my local truck garage who did carry cummins/fleetgard filters, however, they do not seem to be stocking them like the did.
I went to Advanced and they had a Purolator Fuel Filter (F55360). I used Purolator in my cars for years and thought they were okay.
Should I change my fuel filter due to it being almost 3 years old even though it only has 6K on it?
Are the Purolator Fuel Filters okay to use?

How long is the "Longer" trip? I would probably just change it to know you have a new one in there for the trip. Worst case just make sure you have a spare (or 2) and the tools to change it while on the trip.

According to Cummins and Chrysler they are approved.

I used a Purolater fuel filter last fall when I could not get a Fleetguard. I had it in there for 3800 miles through the wintertime. I changed it out this spring and did not have any problem while it was in use and I have a 2006.

You should change that fuel filter immediately. You should change the fuel filter at least once a year, even if the vehicle only travels a few thousand miles per year, I would also add a healthy dose of the fuel treatment of your choice. As far as Purolator filters go, all I can say is for the ones that I have used I have never had any problems, however I use only Fleetguard filters on my 06.

I did not realize it until the second one. When I removed the 2nd one I noticed the internals were loose inside the filter. I still had the first one sitting in the shop on the filter drain. I inspected it and found the same. I'm really not the idiot I was made out to be. That would be installing a third after finding the first two.
