problem with new truck

problem with new truck

i just bought a 2006 3500 drw 5.9 [thur.] it has a shudder when you take off from a stop,i took it back to the dealer yesterday and they said it was fine. i said what ever and left, this is not my first truck somethings wrong anyone have any ideas thanks

Does it start right at takeoff then goes away after 5-10 mph? Usually it's the driveline angle that needs to be shimmed. Try shimming your carrier bearing down about 1-1.5 inches and see if this helps. If it does then only leave enough shim in there to correct the problem. Too much and it may be a problem when the truck is loaded heavy and the angles change due to the suspension compressing. Also check the U-joints while your under there. There was a TSB for this a while back on earlier model years. Mine is an 05' and I had the same problem. All good now.

Yep, Check your fluid levels on level ground. If the rear diff is overfilled or underfilled you can get a problem. The carrier bearing is set up for having an average load on the truck... when you are empty it is off a bit. Shim it to reflect your average load. I found a half inch made the world of difference. ks

There is a TSB for 03 through 05 for this.Its a fairly simple check.Ask tthe dealer to perform the check while you wait and ask for a FULL copy of the TSB.
