847,000 combined miles on 4 trucks with no oil related problems. 5,000 miles increments. And it dont matter what oil it is. Ive used them all and cant tell a difference in any of them.

Why? Could I have your old oil when you change at 3k(thats 2.5 to 5 times more often than the people who designed and built the engine recommend). I could get another 8-10k out of it it in one of the trucks and then a season in an old tractor or bobcat after that.

Mule.....next time I change my oil....I will give you a call in advance. That way you can meet me in front of my house and take my 3 gallons of 5k oil.

It will save me the 2 mile trip to GhettoZone to drop it in their oil recycle vat.

I"ve been told buy some respected mechanics that no matter what oil it is,it all gets dirty, some of the particles you can't see with the naked eye and there the ones that don't get collected by your regular filter. My opion unless you have some kind of superior oil filter system like amsoil I won't go pass 5000 miles.I think amsoil is the best oil out there, but to rich for my blood.I have it everything else but the motor. Before my dodge I had a 1995 toyota 4x4 lifted,38" tires and took it every where with a little 22re motor with amsoil and total it with over 400,000 miles with no leaks no problems. Just my two sense.

I change oil at 250 hours (200 if I have been short tripping). I use Esso 0-40 full synthetic a fleetguard stratopore oil filter and a Amsoil bypass filter. I change the fuel filter every second oil change. Oil analysis has always been good but I understand that the later models with the egr valves are more prone to soot the oil up. I went to a NASCAR race in Fontana on the Sept long week end and from Vegas to Fontana we hit 113 degrees f on the overhead and when I got back to Canada and changed the oil with 253 hours on it and over 60% towing a fifth wheel trailer my oil was still good according to analysis. I run the Esso 0-40 oil all year round.

I'm running amsoil 15w-40 HD diesel/marine oil and their oil filter. Went 20k on last oil change. Did an oil analysis at 10k....said to go another 5k and test again. Did that at 15k and they said to do the same. At 20k, they said the oil was still good for another 5k and then test again...

I changed it at 20k and plan on doing the same again. I drive mostly HWY though with some light towing during the spring/summer months (motocross season)....

Truck still runs great with no leaks and doesn't burn a drop.

I agree with some previous posts....it really depends how and where you drive it. Before I switched to amsoil...I ran Rotella 15w-40 and changed it every 5k....
