I pay 16$ a gallon, but I work in a dealership and get stuff a lot cheaper. Also wanted you to know to use the strataspore filters. There is a 7 micron fuel filter out also, if you need part numbers let me know.

 

I change at 20K intervals, Oilguard bypass and extreme blue 5W40 syn with fleetguard stratapore.

 

5k oil & filter - 15W-40 Rotella (real oil - not fake), fleetguard filter. 7 micron fleetguard fuel filter every 10k. Differentials at 20k and coming up on 40k - need to do the tranny. Wish I could afford a new one instead of changing fluid in the old one!

 

Ditto. I do the exact same thing. 5K is a good round number, easy to remember. Im sure the oil could go to 10k...but im not gonna do that. It makes me feel good to change it myself at that interval and know it was done and done right.

10-15k using Amsoil HD 15w40 and their EAO 080 filter....

 

I'm going to up to one year or 15K OCI on Amsoil 5w30 HDD. My last UOA showed a TBN of 10.1 when I changed it at 7K. But I will install a new Fleetguard Stratapore filter at 7500 or 6 months which ever comes first. I'll also do another UOA when I change oil filters just to see how it held up through the winter. Then some time next spring I will install an oil by pass system to help keep the oil cleaner.

 

I use Rotella synthetic 5-40 and change every 7,500 miles with a Napa Gold 7620XE.

 

The engineers who designed the motor, the folks who built the motor and the company who waranties the motor all recommend 7500mi. for severe and 15,000 for regular driving.( I don't pretend I know more about my engines maintanence than they do) I change around 10,000-12,000 backed up by IOA (Blackstone). Why anyone would change there modern diesel on a 70's gasser schedule is beyond me. (maybe new to the world of diesels?) I don't feel like giving the Irainians or big oil any more of my money than I have to. For the price of an oil anyalisis you could potentially save hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the life of the vehicle, all the while keeping more money in your families coffers and helping out the enviroment. In addition to helping you and yours, you would be denying the Iranians/ Hugo Chavez a couple of bucks as well.

All the oil analysis we have done seem to indicate 12k or so is fine on synthetics. That is without a bypass. I think 8-10k is a pretty good number depending on where you drive and how hard you are on the truck

 

IOA indicated that 10-12k was fine on premium blue conventional oil. 25% towing the rest hway. I once went 14,000 with almost 1/2 towing and the Blackstone report indicated a change was due in the next 1000 or so miles. The 7500-15,000 mi. Cummins indicated oil change is based on conventional oil not synthetic.

I used to be a every 5k. Current oci is 1 yr or 25k with amsoil ame and a eao80. Also running a frantz bp filter changing every 2k along with a qt of oil. Analysis at 10k and 25k/1 yr.

 

I agree with your assesment. I'm just wondering how common it is for people to run that long is why i made the poll.

I'll have to use Blackstone this next go around.

 

That sums it up....except my trucks get beat on and I "try" to change the oil and FF every 10,000mi or so, the longest i've gone is about 13k....blackstone said to get a bypass filter if i want to run it that long....also i will use just about any name brand diesel oils, mostly delo. Sometimes it makes me sick to hear about all the fluid changing, waxing, chipped paint whinning, seat stained cryin and all that other stuff that belongs in a porche/lambo forum. You drive a diesel!!!!

5K in between changes for me along with the fuel filter as well. Valvoline 15-40 syn in the summer and 5-40 in the winter for the cool temps. Truck has 23k on it and when she hits 30K I will go to 7500 between changes but stay at 5k for the fuel filter. I do not think the engine is completely broke in until 30k IMO.
