po191 & po628-- help!
well, after lurking here for quite a while, and learning a lot, now developed trouble- and thought I would seek knowledge-
engine died at red light. I managed to get it started and get home, and it died again just before I turned into driveway. Made it up the hill when it started again, and as I got to top, died again then wouldn't start, but would crank. Came in got on DTR and found out how to get code. po191 & po628.
called Lary today and he helped me get ordered a new lift pump. (Very knowledgeable guy!!! anyway- got lift pump coming 2004.5 2500-
What I can't figure out is what causes the PO191 code? is it because the lift pump failed, or what else could be wrong?
Thanks for your help!

Do you have any other equipment:chips/boxes/rail pressure gauges on your truck?
Check your battery terminals and all of the grounds and be sure to clean them. It may have been brought about because the lift pump code popped up and needs time to clear.
This is what the service manual says about it.....
Possible Causes
OTHER DTC’S PRESENT
FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR
FUEL SYSTEM TAMPERING
INTERMITTENT CONDITION

Nope- completely stock. no other codes- got a replacement lift pump coming, though. just wondering if the po191 could have been caused by the lift pump going bad.

OK_ ups delivered lift pump today at 2:00 p.m- I only ordered it yesterday afternoon! and ,since I am slow, took me about three hours to install-- GOOD TO GO!
Geno's Garage cannot be beat!!!
I did hard test run and Voila--runs like a champ! I understand it will take a few cycles for the code to clear but
am I happy- Thanks Lary from DTR , and the whiz-bang guys at Genos! Now I'm gonna install a pacbrake, and a tranny temp gauge and an EGT gauge-
many thanks-
Jeff
