pinhole in high pressure line
I have been smelling fuel for almost a week and couldn't find the source. well the hole must have gotten bigger, no problem finding it now. On the #6 cylinder, on the solid fuel line from the rail to the block, there is a nice fountain of fuel spewing out.
Anyone else had this yet?
I have about 125,000 miles and about 100,000 of this is with an EZ. I took the EZ off and it goes to the diesel shop on Thurs.
Am I correct in thinking that I should not attempt to repair this myself? THat is a high pressure line, which is what makes me ask...
Or is it someting I can change out myself?

This has come up before. The # 6 line is unsupported and can stress fracture due to vibrations. On '04.5 and newer a support bracket was added. If I remembered correctly there's a kit for this.

yes there is an additional bracket for the #6 that has been added. I also remember reading somewhere how much the price was for a new line, it didn't seem to be a whole lot of money to replace.

Cummins shop says $17.50 for the line, Dodge says $26 + $6 for new nuts typical.
Is this something I can easily do, or is there more to it than it looks? Is there any possibility of the injector being clogged or stuck closed, the line looks to have a pin hole, not a fracture. But it is hard to see.
The manual says the torque specs are very tight due to the possibility of an internal or external leak, depending on too tight or not tight enough.
Should I just stop worrying and just change the darn thing myself?

all fixed. part came in yesterday at the cummins shop. took me maybe a half hour to change it out. pretty easy, just hard to get to the rear nut where it connects.
It did come with a bracket on the line, but there is no where to attach the bracket to support the line.
