i think some dodges are very sensitive to what you do them. my 01 that i sold i could do about anything to that truck and not have any problems, but i try to UPGRADE this one and it hates it. the clutch is giving fits, the tranny oil went bad, i think i have an injector problem. it just started missing the other day, like its cutting out every now and then. i guess i got a sensitive truck this time. lol am about ready to have all these little problems fixed

Glad you are making some headway...hopefully that helps the grinding issue in 2nd....Now hopefully the clutch problem gets solved easily.

CRXSi- I'm not arguing the point that air can cause problems in a hydraulic system, but there is a huge difference between brake and clutch pressures. Air will compress but it takes force to do it and in clutch systems it is not as critical as the brake system because it will compress to a point depending on how much pressure is pushing it and like it or not brake fluid (not silicone) will absorb moisture which is why cylinders pit and rust and boil (boiling is a moisture or water problem). Here is the problem copied from USMCDuncans post-
"the clutch grabs real bad. if i am at a atop light and push the pedal in and as soon as it starts to go into gear the truck lurches forward. it feels like its not disengaging all the way. also if i leave it idle in neutral, it feels like im goin to break the stick off tryin to force it into gear... it just started doing this when i put the sbc in it".
The key to me is "it just started doing it when i put the sbc (southbend clutch) in it. It didn't get worse over time but upon installation of the new clutch. At any rate I guess we will agree to disagree on the diagnosis. Hopefully it will be a minor problem and maybe we will both be wrong and his truck will be trouble free once again.

yeah its the 305/555. its got 93000 miles on it. i called redline today and they told me these problems, at least the tranny was from mixing the mtl/mt90. he told me its too thick for that tranny. so if you know anyone thinkin of doin that, stop them before they do it. i also talked to dan today at quad4x4. he told me the ONLY fluid that should be ran in these is the stock mopar fluid.

Yeah I have a freind who put gear oil in his transfer case (late model Jeep) and had all kinds of problems. Unfortunately he didn't check the manual until after the fact and found out it uses tranny fluid.
