I'll try this and apologize for my inability to make this a one-click operation. On www.yamaha-fjr1300.com, under "general-motorcycles:non fjr", go to page 3 and look at the topic "more miles to the oil change". It is now a 20,000+ hit topic that has a GM petroleum engineer reveiwing many topics of interest to me with respect to the synthetic/non synthetic discussion, length of oil change intervals, filters, and diesels. Again, I apologize for my computer skill (lack) in not making this a direct shot. FYI Bill

I think it was a pretty subjective posting. With turbos syn gives better protection. But, where it counts is with objective evidence. You can talk all day about both sides, but show me. Synthetics provide better lubrication, dynos show HP gains with synthetics, less friction. And racer have been using syn for a long time before they had sponsors. But, the big test is engine wear. I've read many reports where long term use of syn show little signs of wear. I don't believe in the long interval change time though. I have a friend that rebuilt his race engine three time a year with dino and only once with synthetic. Everyone should decide for themselves what they believe.
