Personal Mileage Best

I filled up my truck at a Edmonton Flying J and it was 130 liters. Drove to Fort Mcmurray and back filled up again 129 liters 942.3 kilometers total, I figured it out at 1 gallon=3.78 liters. RPM's 1800-1900, and speed was 118 kph. I'm pretty happy with my 03

For all the yanks in here (like me) 129 liters = 34.0782 gallons, 942.3 kilometers = 585.52 miles. All of which = 17.18 MPG.

I left Penticton on Tuesday, and had about 80 KM on that fill while driving in Penticton- (city traffic, small town, stop and go, plus it was 41 C (105F). Got to Edson, Alberta...921 KM total. Could have gotten about a 1000 on that one. Filled in Edson 123 litres...pretty close seeing as how I only have a 128 liter tank.

Is that really good? I get 17 mpg running around town, 30 gallons of fuel - 510 miles = 17 mpg. I pretty much take my truck everywhere, like my glock I just don't seem to be able to leave home with out.

I would check the overhead with a pen and paper. They are know to be optimistic.

Actually, mine always reads low. Last time I checked was towing a loaded U-Haul from Oregon down to the Bay Area, and my overhead showed 17.2 mpg. Hand calc confirmed that actual mileage was 19.1mpg. My overhead has been consistently low since I bought the truck. It must be pessimistic.

19.1 on the overhead - 100 miles at 2000 RPM and 70 MPH.

98.8 mpg according to the overhead! Of course I was on a long steady downhill and didn't have to touch the gas at all. It read that way for almost 45 miles. Too bad it didn't hand calculate the same!!! Hand calc'd to 21mpg which included hauling a load of hay up that same grade so not a bad average!
