I went with the Pacbrake PBXR, liked the air operated over the vacuum, it also gives me an air tank for future air horns. It was an relative easy install, just took time to route the wires where I wanted them. Check both of the web sites for install instructions to get an idea of what's involved.

I personally prefer air operated vs vacuum. I run a 4" inline pacbrake. Cant run turbo mount because of twins. US Gear makes an electric operated but I dont have any experience with them

iflych52, what year is your truck?

'06 auto works great with the jake. Going down the road, it works as expected. With the cruise control, it maintains cruise setpoint when going down hill.

What about warrenty issues? I know that the Jacob's exhaust brake is Mopar approved and is covered under the 3year/36,000 mile warrenty on new trucks. Is that warrenty only good if it is installed by a dealer or can any average Joe put it on and still have it warrenty? Does putting on a Pacbrake void your warrenty, exhaust (noise suppressor) etc.?

My dealer quoted 1400 for the Jacobs and 1250 for the Pac. The Jacobs becomes part of the truck and has the 36/36000 warranty. He thought the Pac brake had a different warranty under the Cummins? I am thinking that I might want air bags and it would be nice to come off the tank with the Pac.
I have an 06 with the Auto.

a belt driven vacuum pump is wearing out any time the engine is running, whether the brake is applied or nor.

that is why i went with a pac. the air can be used for other accessories.

I think I asked this already, but I don't remember the answer, so here goes: Are the other exhaust brakes compatible with the '06 48re? Or are guys like me with the automatic forced to use the Jacobs unit?

The Pacbrake will work with the '06 CTD, per their website.

Cool. I see thay have released the '06 unit and updated their site. I think this is the unit I'll be going with. I like the idea of working the brake off a compressor and tank rather than vacuum, and I didn't want to mess with my Glacier Diesel fuel filter kit which would interfere with the Jacobs installation. Now who has the best price on the Pac Brake?

I bought mine directly from pacbrake. got it next day since I am in washington and they are in BC. for an auto, you'll need to get the module to control converter lockup with the brake activation.

Okay, this is what I didn't understand before. Why does the PacBrake need a trans commander when the Jacobs does not?
