P2509 ^%#$^%$#!!!
something's killing the batteries- when i went to test the current draw out of the DS batt, it popped the internal fuse on my fluke.
there's mention of a fan clutch connector to test/disconnect to see if the prob persists? where is this 6 pin connector>>>???? any other ideas about what's pulling it down? truck's stock, it sits for a month or so as i am out of the country a lot...
i want to try this 6-pin connector before i go and start disconnecting everything....where is it?

i found the connector. cleared the codes, and 3 came back, it was ****** i disconnected it.. cleared them again, and all codes are gone. i have unplugged it once more to let it sit overnight, and see if the batteries get pulled down with the clutch disconnected. we'll see what happens...

you are on the right path. Dealer connect says
Vehicle Issue MIL. P2509. The engine may stumble or stall out.;12 volt power (unswitched) and the ground circuits to the ECM are good. Batteries and charging system operation are good. If applicable (2006 and 2007 MY trucks), the ECM has already been updated per TSB 18-001-07.
System or Component Die out / Stall,Hesitation / Sag / Stumble;DTC / Error Message;ECM
Recommendation If the problem can be duplicated, disconnect the fan clutch 6-way connector and check if the concern still occurs. If the problem no longer occurs, replace the fan clutch assembly.
Modification Date 01/04/08 9:57 AM
ALSO:
Vehicle Issue Intermittent no start with no response from the ECM (PCM). Also, there may be no response from the Wireless Control Module.;The ECM (or PCM - both refer to the same module) is not active on CAN BUS communication, displayed in RED or with a RED 'X'. The WCM is not active on CAN BUS communication and may be displayed "blank". Any of fault codes P2509, P128D, C2202, C2205, U0100 may be set.
System or Component Inoperative,No Start;No Response;ECM,Wireless Control Module (WCM);Yes - Intermittent
Recommendation Remove, clean and re-install ALL ground connections at the batteries, on the engine block and body.

Here is the bulletin about it:
Flash: Check Gauges Lamp Illuminates For Alternator Charging With DTC P2502, P2503,
or P2509
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control
Module (Cummins PCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2006 - 2007 (DH/D1) Ram Truck (2500 / 3500)
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.9L engine (sales code
ETH) built on or before November 29, 2006 (MDH 1129XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience the illumination of the “Check Gauges” lamp on the
instrument panel cluster. Inspection of the gauges may reveal that the battery charging
gauge may read in the 11 volt range rather than in the 14 volt range. There may not be a
Check Engine / Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination.
Further diagnosis may reveal the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) have been
set:
P2502 - Charging System Error - Diesel
P2503 - Charging System Output Low - Diesel
P2509 - Powerdown Data Lost Error - Diesel
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN®) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in
TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs are
present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further
with this bulletin.
If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the
Repair Procedure.

1. Open the hood and install a battery charger. Using a voltmeter, verify that the charging
rate provides 13.2 - 13.5 volts. Set the battery charger to continuous charge. Do not
allow the charger to time out during the flash process. Remove the charger from the
battery when the flash process is complete.
NOTE: Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash
process.
2. Obtain the vehicle Personal Identification Number (PIN). This information may be
obtained from:
a. The original selling invoice.
b. The DealerCONNECT system under the “Parts” tabs - select “Key Codes”.
c. By contacting the District Manager.
3. Connect the CH9410 StarSCAN® ethernet cable to the StarSCAN® and the dealer's
network drop.
4. Connect the CH9404 StarSCAN® vehicle cable to the StarSCAN® and the vehicle.

UPDATE:
took it to the dealer- 2 bad batteries.... truck was charging at like 14.5-14.7 always, that may have contributed to their demise... reflash ( dealer wanted me to pay for a flash, i said no thanks on the paying part) reflash, 2 new 1k amp batteries... we'll see if that fixes it.. A/C compressor cratered, new one getting installed.
