p0480 Code Troubleshooting

I am showing a P0480 code-Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit/Open (Low Speed Fan Relay). What does the code mean? How do I go about troubleshooting and fixing the code. Is there a way to clear codes with out disconnecting the battery? thanks. Jon

I got that code once after I washed my motor. It went away on its own. Could be the clutch going out. Im not sure how to test it.

You need a scanner to clear the codes.

Do a search on OBD scanner

Turn your AC on high and rev the engine (when coolant is warmed up) to about 2400rpm. The fan should come on ( you'll hear the whhooosshing fan noise, its pretty loud). If the fan doesn't come on (give it at least 2 minutes), you may have a bad fan clutch. you may also have an open circuit in the fan wiring harness.

As people on here will tell you, the fan is not used very often unless you have the ac on or you are towing in Death Valley or something. The fan doesn't get commanded on for high coolant temps until 215 deg. F.
