Had a funny start this AM. Cold engine. It just seemed to shudder and then catch. Engine code showed: P0341: Camshaft Position Sensor.

I cleared the code, it started and ran just fine all day. Anyone know what caused this and should I be concerned? 120K miles and always starts 1st crank.

Check the wires going over you A/C lines at the compressor. Chaffing will occur and short out the 5v supply to the high/low sensor for the A/C. The same 5v supply runs the cam position sensor. Tape the wire up and put some plastic wire loom over it.

Spooler, there is another thread in the 6.7 section, that I left a reply for. I can't find the thread that has the picture of the bad wire for those guys to look at. I did have the picture and placed it there. I did a search and could dig it up. I did not save the link either.

Wires by A/C looked clean. They were covered by plastic loom...removed it and looked closely. Nothing.

Could it have anything to do with being parked on an 8-10 degree driveway overnight with a utility trailer attached (in 1st with E-brake on)? Its been running fine now for two days.

I really don't know the answer to that. Could have been chost in the wiring.

Well it did it again this morning. 45 degrees outside. Shuddered a for about 2 seconds when I cranked it, then started. Ran fine for 20 miles. Cleared the code. Warm start 1st crank, no codes. I'll take another look at all the wires, take the Smarty back to stock off SW1 and see what it does.

If it's a bad sensor, won't the truck just stop running?

The only experience I've had with sensor malfunctions was with my 2000 3500

The CPS (Crankshaft Pos Sensor) failed and it stumpled real bad on the road and when trying to go from a stop. It threw a code. It also made the gauges go up and down back and forth.

The Map sensor just stumpled when it failed. But you could still drive it.

I replaced my crank and cam position sensor awhile back. Mine went out for whatever reason? Changes them out and everything has been fine since.

Did it throw codes before replacement?

Yep, same code you have. The crank was easy but the cam was a pain in the rear to install

The cam sensor wires are in a bind fromt he factory on mine before i put the TST. I have re-routed to correct that when I did the TST install. With that man miles the connector may just be bad or has crack in it that the cold is agrivating. I get that code from time to time but is is the old TST harness I have.

Well I broke down and replaced the sensor. Taking the 5th wheel out and didn't want to end up stranded towing it. Hoping that takes care of it!

I agree, it was hard to get too! Wish it would have been the crankshaft sensor.

Have had good starts for two days since replacing the Crank sensor. Taking the 5th wheel out today. Hoping problem is solved!
