Over Size Tires
#16
I wouldn't go any larger than 285/70/17 with those weak front unit bearings. I have Toyo/AT's in that size D rated. They're also available in E's. Good tires, I like them a lot, but I did notice a slight drop off in mpg with them. I would have kept the factory stock tires on but the first time I drove in the rain and could not get any traction they came off there real soon after that..

I do like being able to fit in parking garages though...

There are only three reasons to increase tire size:
1. You want to reduce the final drive ratio (applies to people who are unhappy with the highway cruise RPM of their manual or 4.10 gear trucks)
2. You will be going offroad and need extra clearance or fatter tires to work through mud, sand, or snow
3. You prioritize appearance ahead of performance

I put 315's on my truck because the 5 315's mounted and balanced were only 400$
Even the Dodge take off cost more then that.

Nice ride D45!! Thank you everyone for your comments. Sure would like to find some of those $400.00 tires..:-) I am retiring in February and sure would like to keep my tires rolling somewhere out there. BFG or TOYO is probably where I will go 285/70/17. I see an EDGE or Smarty in my future to regain a little more power. My son tells me "you can't have enough HP"
Thanks again....Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year to all.
