Over boost condition

I have a 2003 SO with an aFe stage I intake and a Magnaflow 4" exhaust. I checked for fault codes and it gave me P0234 which means over boost condition. What does this mean and is this bad? Thanks

The turbo is stock and no gauges, and no boxes as far as i know. I bought the truck used so i don't know what the other owner did. I checked for codes a few days ago and P0234 did not come up.

Did the CEL light come on? Did the truck go into limp mode and run very slow with no power?

Need to see if you can fill out your signature with all truck information.

The truck does not go into limp mode with the Overboost code. It does if you get the Low boost code. Seems backwards to me but I have had several of both codes recently and I am now an expert.....
Maybe your wastegate is stuck closed causing you to get too much boost and that's throwing the code. Did you happen to do a wide open throttle run anytime recently?

Yeah, sometimes i just get the urge and put the peddle to the floor and hold it there till about fifty or sixty. Over boost doesn't hurt anything though does it? Is there a sound that the waste gate makes when it opens? If it does make a sound I probably wouldn't be able to here it anyways cause of the intake ad exhaust I have.

I beg to differ. Ask Bob Wagner It's happen to me in three pulls and the truck automatically goes to 2000rpm and cuts the fuel big time!!! A overboost Condition.

if you are not running a fueling box you should be fine and I would not worry about over spining the turbo IMO

Well, I got the Overboost code a couple times when I pulled my boost fooler off the truck. It ran exactly as it did prior and did not lose any power. My truck is the Devil Truck so maybe it is just backwards......

HA Ha LOL. Maybe This condition is the only form of throwing a 6-speed into Limp!
