out of warranty: do i have to pay $100 for TSB repairs?

well, glad i did not drop it off last night. this same service writer also INSISTED that i did not have a CAT on my 2006.
looks like I will buy the Solenoid and do it myself.
i don't like taking to the dealer, last time one the young guns there ran it up and down the interstate all day chasing a problem (he looked good in my truck, though, we seen him at a stop light)
i don't mind getting dirty, but i HATE spilling oil/fluids all over my driveway.
just looks like total _ _ _ to have a nasty driveway.
but, it's also priceless to know it's done right.

I did the solenoid myself,
part was ~120, fluid is ~35,
inch pounds torque wrench was $75 at sears,
tranny filter was ~$20
but all in all, it's prolly $400 worth of work at a dealer.

When changing the transmission fluid on the 04.5 is there a drain plug for the torque convertor. Also, I see the TSB for the Governor Pressure Solenoid Valve, as discussed in other threads, where can this be purchased other than the dealer. Dealer price here for part # 04617210 is $144.00.
Thank you.
Thank you.

a buddy owns a "transmissions parts store" and he said he could get them, and he knew not to put the dodge style valve back in, but the one that is mounted on the little plate:
i think this is it:
do a FIND for #22-48RE

Great decision. Spending that kind of coin on the components related to that TSB is nuts. Get yourself a good valvebody and you will be much happier in the end. No question about it.

I took my truck to dealer to have the TSB done before i had the trans built so i would have the new parts. i was told a $ for fluid ect. then the service guy called me and told me i needed other stuff and would not do the TSB for the agreed $ if i did not agree to his other list or he would void the warranty and say the truck had been raced. so it cost me a little over $400 and the solenoid is out again lol . i have not seen him out anywhere and have not been back to dealership
