Opinions: Best Oil?

Delvac synthetic is top shelf. I use Torco, another top shelf. Im hard on stuff and need/want the extra protection. Especially flash point and fire point.
Stay away from group 1 for high performance use. Bright stock 50 and other low level crap that boils off in that distillation range is in those. Watch the "blended" sythetics. Many contain bright stock, etc and they pump in the additives to boost them.
Stock engines can use any API rated oil and last virtually forever.

Why does it have to die? Makes for good discussion. Isn't that what forums are all about? If you don't like the topic, stay off the thread.

218,000 miles on Rotella T with either a Wix or a Fleetguard filter. Pulled the head off last friday for a new headgasket and the cylinder walls still look new and have the factory crosshatching. This on an engine that sees 1600 degrees on every pass down the track and regularly sees 1200 while towing large loads of hay and doesn't burn a drop between changes. I fully agree with Synchiropus on the change in a timely manner with the right grade quote.

Exxon XD3 is good stuff, but it doesn't seem to be readily available in the US. Lots of cold starts will favor a good 5w40 or 0w40 synthetic, and any good dino is fine for lots of run time between starts. M1 T&S / Delvac 1 is good stuff, but harder to find now.

My dad and I use Valvoline premium blue in both of our trucks and we have no complaints about it what so ever. It is also endorsed by Cummins. I think it cost about 9 dollars/gal.

Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme. The ONLY synthetic recommended by Cummins (the manufacturer of the engine that is currently in my truck). The reason I refuse to put any other oil in is because I don't want the engine to blow up.

Same here
I have a cousin that started his own truck fleet by wrenching on them for a living. He recommended Chevron Delo 400 and said whatever I use pick something and stick with it and don't skimp on the filters.
Sounded like good advice so I follow it.
