Oil Pan Corrosion - Part Number Experts Needed !

I need to replace my oil pan on my 2004. I called Dodge and they have told me the pan has been superseded to part number 68043030AA. They have told me you need new bolts (longer) with the pan. From what I understand the pans flange is thicker and there may be more corrosion resistance.

The Cummins part number 3949769 has not changed. I called Cummins and they can't seem to tell me if their pan has changed.

Now the Dodge pan in 730 bucks here in Canada and US side a Cummins is 450. Does anyone know what the real deal is with the oil pan ? Suggestions ?

You could try Benny@ www.allmoparparts.com.
He's on the CF. Geno's carries them also.

Can you change the pan in these things without lifting the block, just unbolt it and you'll be able to remove it?

I don't think so Will. When asked Pablo @ NTG said "it's a real hassle." I just sanded and refinished mine again.
My 2nd gen didn't do it at all.

In another thread people made it sound like dropping the pan was simple, I was just wondering, my pan has no rust on it at all.

I found a steal of a deal on a new Mopar pan with bolts, gasket, drain plug for 425 shipped. The new Mopar pan has a thicker flange than my old one. Maybe more support/less flex etc which requires the new bolts. Not sure if the Cummins part has this or not. Cheers

Maybe something called corrosion resistance.
