Oil over fill

Had the rusted out oil pan replaced and they put about one to two quarts to much oil. Will this hurt anything? Or should I drain out the extra oil?

I would drain it down. If there is too much oil, the crankshaft can hit it and whip it into a froth. Not nearly as good for lubrication. How many quarts did they put in it after the an was replaced? Eleven quarts will put it right in the middle of the safe zone, and twelve takes it to the top of the zone.

It looks like at least 1-2 quarts over on the dipstick. They saved the almost new synthetic oil to put back in, but thought they spilled about two quarts. Don't think they looked at the dipstick.

I just checked the oil immediately after running the engine and it shows at the full mark. After setting for awhile it shows about one and a half inches over full. Do you think that is enough over to hurt anything

LOL, get off the couch, get off the internet and correct your engine oil level.

OK. I drained out the extra two quarts of oil. It now reads full after setting for a bit, just where it reads after an oil change. Thanks for the comments.
