Oil Leak - UPDATE !

I noticed a leak which i thought was coming from my steering box. I took it in to the dealer (not enough time to look at it myself) and they informed me that the steering box was fine but i have a oil leak coming from under where the injection pump is mounted. Has anyone else had this happen, just looking for info. All fine and dandy they will fix it next wednesday. They are telling me that i have to pay a deductible on it though 100 bucks. With the regular 160,000 km regular engine warranty is this not covered ? I was under the impression that only extended warranty merits the 100 buck deductible. Any info ?

Call D.C. I think(could be wrong)that the $100 deduct is on POWERTRAIN.Not the Cummin engine or fuel system 7/100 warranty.I mentioned this before and some posted that they got their $100 refunded!

I had a leak in my power steering area happened the first day i had the truck.I thought it was the tranny leaking.i had the truck towed to my dealer and they could not recreate the problem.Said to keep going and if it does it again bring it back.So next day drove to work and sure enough i have a small leak bring it in again they atre baffled .the service manager and i were looking around while waiting for the head mechanic. He goes to undo the power steering reservoir cap and it shoots ten feet in the air.It turns out the cap has breather holes to relieve pressure i guess my cap had a defect, holes were plugged.Put a new cap on leak is gone

Just checked my book, you pay the first $100.00 on the engine warranty claim after 5 years, no mention of mileage. On the powertrain it's $100.00 after 3 years or 60,000 km. Page 403 in the big book

Your CP3 pump is leaking. It will look like oil.... but smell it. It is covered by "CUMMINS" for 100k FOR FREE. Let your dealer know what the engine warranty covers it is clearly listed in the warranty booklet.

I'll say it again, you only pay the $100.00 on engine work after 5 years, page 403 in the owners manual.

I don't have my owners manual in from of my but I just got off of the phone with dc and was told there is a $100.00 deductible on anything after the basic 3/36. Also I looked in my wife's owners manual for our 04 jeep liberty and it says after the 3/36 there is a $100. deductible for the 7/70 powertrain warranty. I'm sorry man but I am doubting your source... But maybe they made a misprint in the other manuals. I will look in my truck's manual tomorrow!!

I think dc is not looking at the fact that this is a diesel engine with a different warranty than the gasser trucks, or the canadian warranty is different but i don't think so because the warranty page depicts the lenth of warranty in miles not km's. You don't believe everything dc says do you
My source is the owners manual, in writing, not something someone said over the phone, didn't your mummy tell you "always get it in writing"

If my fuel looked like my engine oil (ie black), I'd be taking it in to the dealer for sure or finding another fuel station.

The oil return from the crankcase ventilation system is routed from the valve cover to a fitting on the block just above the engine control module (via a small black plastic tube). There is a paper gasket between the fitting and engine block. I have seen these leak and drip down by the CP3 pump. Just something easy/quick/cheap to check before you pay anyone anything.
