oil Fumes in cab

I have a 06 quad cab and I'm getting an oil smell in the cab when I stop after driving around, or idling around, just wondering if this is commen, and if there is a fix for this?

If you have just changed your oil within the last 1000-1500 miles an used Rotella then its an additive in the oil and will go away in 1500 miles or so. If not check the breather on the motor and also check oil level to make sure its not too full an pushin out the breather

thanks, I just got the oil changed, I'm not sure what oil the dealership used, when i first got the truck in october i notices the smell, I couldn't find any leaks, the oil level was ok , i drained a liter and 1/2 figuring there was a bit to much oil, smell was still there for a couple more 100 miles then went away,
took the truck in to get some work down and a oil change and the smell is back,
Is there anyway to get rid of the smell other then time?

If you look under the engine, towards the rear, you will see the breather tube pointing straight down. Stick a piece of pipe in there and then add some extra hose and run it towards the rear of the truck at least a couple feet past the cab. That should help. I need to do it to mine......

I fixed my problem switchinhg to Mobil Delvac, never had the smell again until one day my dad borrow the truck for a weekend and decided to pay me back with a fresh oil change (rotella) ... Then the smell was back until I dumped that oil out and replaced it with Delvac.

Mine has started what I think to be the same oil smell described. The truck is 3.5 years oold with 33k miles. I thought one of unopened quarts of tranny fliud, motor oil, or diff fluid that I keep under the rear seat was leaking. I removed them all and no leaks.
The truck is parked for 3-4 weeks at a time as I use it only for towing the fiver RV. The smell is always strongest after that time. WIsh I could stop it - it's not that pleasant. pcm

Spray the base of the head with brake clean. Oil seeps on to the exhaust manifold and burns. This will eliminate the smell!!

Why not just change the oil to Delvac (or anything but Rotella) and stop trying to reinvent the wheel...

Never noticed the Rotella smell in my DMax, then read it on here. Hadn't used Rotella in the Dodge until this last oil change.
It stunk right away. Drove it 100mi right after the oil change (first oil change ever done by a shop for me since I've started driving) and it stunk!
Looked all over, was cussing BigO tires for spilling oil or not tighteneing the filter or something. After I couldn't find any oil dripping, thought maybe my valve cover was seeping, nope, just Rosmella!
Now after about 1500mi on the oil, I can just barely smell it sometimes, but it's mstly gone away.

I guess to each there own, the smell really dosnt bother me that much/ dosnt last that long an i really like rotella i think it is a good product and ive used it for a while now with no problems. I would use Amsoil but around here you have to order it by mail.

Brake clean is bad news if it is heated and vaporized. Go to this link and read how BRAKE CLEAN almost killed a welder!

I crawled underneath the truck while it was running to find the breather tube
to see or smell the fumes, the smell is definetly coming from the tube, I'm not sure if there is suppose to be pressure there or not, there is a little when i put my figure on it, is a little pressure normally?

Fumes

I guess I must be the only weird one here... I like the smell! I get so busy with work and I drive a lot of miles... the smell makes me feel good that I took the time to change it!
