On my 06 2500 4x4, I used a rubber strap wrench and reached through the passenger side front wheel well. Had to bend tthe plastic liner a bit but it went back pretty quick. BTW, I did this just to loosen it and unscrewed it from the bottom.

On the non-fluted filters a small 'rubber' Sears strap wrench works fine. On the fluted filters I use a Geno's wrench, the orange plastic one, but I modified it to keep it from slipping; saw a few slits in the sides with a hacksaw and then snug it down as needed with a large hose clamp.

Fisher, I use shed B and unless they have changed for 325hp motors. If you have a maintenance service schedule book, look at it carefully. It does have a page for every 6000km(3750 miles), but if you read what maintenance is to be done you will notice that the oil change is only at 12000km (7500 Miles) intervals, oil is expensive enough as it is ;well at least thats how my manual reads. unless the 305hp (2004) is different. or am I reading it wrong?

Maybe they changed it then?

According to my manual, sched A is oil change every 6000km (3750 miles) sched B is every 12,000 km.

How often you doing yours?

Fisher , I change my oil every 12000km, and I change all three filters. I am also using valvoline full synetic oil 5w40. Changing oil more often does not hurt a thing, keeps engine cleaner. Just with the price of oil whether it be dino or synetic why spend more (11 liters at a time ).trying to get the most out of the dollar

Walmart had a fluted cup that fit my Fleetguard filters.
Works great and I don't need to grab a hot filter and loosen it.

Thumbs up gorilla-proof filter wrench

If I can't remove a filter by hand, I use a strap (seatbelt) wrench... and if it's still stubborn - a little sand in the weave of the belt works EVERY time. I haven't puntured an oil filter in decades.

I found that if the filters are tightened 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn after snug, I can easily remove them by hand w/o any kind of filter wrench. (been doing it this way over 20 years and not one leak yet)

I also used an electric hot knife to cut a small opening in the right side plastic inner fender. Now I just reach in over the right front tire to change the filter and I use a one gallon zip-lock bag over the filter to keep it from running oil everywhere.

Just the way I do it.
