Oil filter question

Oil filter question
Somehow I managed to get ahold of a new Fleetguard Stratopore Lube oil filter with the number LF3970. The cummins sheet crossreferences it to an ISB engine. Will this work for my Dodge? Anyone know how to check this thing out?

If you're going to use a filter for your truck, you should use the part number that corresponds to your application. For the cost of 10 bucks, it's not worth mucking around with uncertainty.
The only time I have put something different on is an LF3894, which I believe is for up to 02's...or something thereabouts. In that case I emailed Cummins and they mentioned the filter was the same as a 16035, just without flutes.
