Oil drip

Hey guys, newbie here, I found a brand new left over 2005 2500 slt ctd 4x4
on memorial day of this year and scooped it up. I love the truck and currently
have 7500 miles on it. I just returned from pulling my sleds to Michigans UP
and noticed several small oil drips under my truck,I looked under the truck and it appears to be comming from a breather tube hanging off the leftside of the motor. I checked my oil level. the oil had just been changed and it is higher on the dipstick than it should be. My question is should i be freaking out? I dont smell any heavy diesel smell in the engine oil.My truck has a
4" rancho lift and i run motometal 17x9 wheels with toyo open country mt
tires size 35x12.50. It is an automatic tranny. the truck has no other mods.
every time i fill her up i add some off the power service diesel fuel supplement. the truck is under a full 7/70 warrranty. I love it and want it to last along time. Thanks for the advice in advance,Its clear that many of you have a great deal of knowledge on ctd subjects,oh the dealer says blowby is normal,I dont want to clean up oil on my driveway all the time!

I'm guessing what your seeing is the crankcase breather hose. I've had the same thing when having the oil changed, its a little overfilled onthe dipstick. This is usually is due to the amount of oil still in the engine oil passages, that doesn't come out when the plug is pulled.

You usually will notice a small drip (size of a dime-quarter) when you let the truck sit after some heavy use/towing. Its a way the motor releases excess crankcase pressure.

There should not be oil "all over" like your describing. I park mine on the driveway and maybe 1-2 times a year do I get a spot. I would take it to the dealer and have it checked out.

Make sure you take all your mods (chips/programmers) if any off before you go.

Good Luck

Totaly normal.Breather tube is how the engine vents(no pcv system like a gasser) and over time a little build up will leave a drop or two.

I wouldnt get too excited, just remember to keep smelling the oil for diesel fuel if it starts going over full. I took a little bottle and zip tied it to the end of the breather to catch the oil. Make sure the air can still get out of the bottle from the top. When I change the oil, I might have 1 oz. oil in the bottle. I hate spots in the driveway.

If you want piece of mind... take an oil sample and send it in. This will prove if there is anything not right in the oil.. My truck pulls heavy and often and I never get more than a slight hanging drip. Never has touched the pavement./.

Thanks for the advice guys! I will keep an eye on it, I like the idea of a little catch bottle to monitor it and keep it off the driveway, I know the older trucks came with something for just this purpose. Pete
