Oil change
Has anyone asked their dealer why they require such a short oil change interval for warranty? I suppose it is just to make more money. > Guess I answered my own question.
The official Cummins page lists oil change every 7500. Dodge wants me in every 3500 and requires it by 3750 for warranty. The only good part is my dealer only charges $25, not too bad for 12 quarts and filter.

Re:Oil change
The dealership cannot make you change the oil every 3750 unless you have the Cali SO, then they are correct. If you read the book it tells you that, I should know because that is what I have but I do all my oil changes.

Re:Oil change
If you look at the manual, the HO Schedule B oil change interval is supposed to be at 7500 miles, while the Schedule A is at 15000 miles. When I went to the "New Owners Clinic" at the dealership where I bought my "03 HO (to get the freebie coupons) they told all f us that the factory recommended 3000 mile changes, but that you had to do it at 7500 to protect your warranty. I told them that they were wrong, they said I was. I offerred to bring in my manual but they toold me not to bother, they were the dealer and they had the right info. I got my manual out anyway and read the change schedule out loud to everyone. Then, they admitted they were wrong.

Re:Oil change
Hey Thunderjet, I got the truck in Hillsboro at DCD. They have a new owners clinic once a month. If you attend, they give you a discount card for oil changes. I'll have to check with them on the time interval. Maybe it's just their policy that if you want that special price it must be in more often. I can see every 5K, but 3750 seems a bit short. :P
Not sure where you got yours, but maybe call your dealer, or call them up and check it out. See ya around town.

How's this? I got "free oil changes for life." It's in quotes because there's a catch. I have to do all the schedule B maintenance with the dealer. $30 to rotate tires and a brake inspection was not as bad as I though they were going to hit me with. The punch line is that they are changing the oil on their dime at 3K. Even with the amount of towing I'm doing I feel bad. Under 10k and they've changed it 3 times for the $30 tire rotation and brake inspection. I thought I saw an add the DC was giving free oil changes for all their vehicles?

I'm with you 100%. I've changed my oil at 1500, 6000 and have the next one scheduled at 13500. I've been using Rotella T which I purchased at Sam's Club for $36/6 gal. Along with a Fleetguard filter I figure I've got my oil changes down to around $24 per change.

How were they wrong? They told you to change it every 7500 miles....which is the same thing the manual says. ???

Rotella T was $5.37 a gallon at Walmart the last time I bought it. Might give them a try instead of Sams. Save yourself a buck or three.
