What oil comes in the new 05's from the factory?

 

I'd like to know this as well. I won't be doing my first oil change for a couple months, and I got one free @ the dealer so I'm curious to what it has in it now, and I will ask them what they put in it before the change...

 

All the trucks come with Valvoline Premium blue 15w40 dino oil from the factory. Mexican additions to your tank/sump are just luck of the draw. You know what they say about Corona

 

Just for gits and shiggles, cast your bloodshot peepers on Cummins' ISX extended drain interval. They don't mention synthetic oil. But they do mention a specific recipe. Cummins engines come with Valvoline Premium Blue in the pan. Premium Blue is Cummins' recipe. It used to be brewed by Castrol and is now contracted with Valvoline. I don't believe you can do any better for your Cummins.

FWIW, I use Valvoline Durablend in my Hemi as it meets the API ILSAC GF-4 certification as well as Chrysler specific MS-6395 requirements. It doesn't bother me that it's not a true synthetic. But the additive package is correct for my engine. Same with Premium Blue for the Cummins...
