Warranty? What Warranty?

Diablo, Quad XZT, Walbro, Goerend trans, KORE suspension.....Your truck sounds awesome but there is not much left for the dealer to warrant is there?

I agree that it is good to get a sample and see what your engine is doing though. Im just giving a good natured hard time.

When I got my Oilguard in 01 they said it is safe to double the OCI with their bypass. You can save on full flow filters too. When I had the bypass on my 97, I checked the drop across the fullflow at 10k miles and it only went up about 1 psi from the new DP. After I put the bypass on my 03 I'm thinking of going 15K on both filters and the Schaeffer 7000 and then change everything. I'll do analysis, probably every 5k the first go-around to make sure things are good. I think my Schaeffer rep said their kits are about $8. Craig

I analyze my oil every time I change it; if I don't think it tastes right, I don't drive so long between filter changes...

Tex, I've pretty much given up on the warranty..... But my truck is my livelyhood, my hobby... and I really love it, as much as you can love an inanimate object... And I enjoy a good natured joke from time to time also...

I agree with doing oil analysis as well but if you are doing 5k oci's every change could get pricey. I just added a frantz bypass and will sample every 15k with rotella dino just to check on tbn and viscosity. The bypass is going to skew my results since I will be replacing a quart of oil every 2-2500 miles. If you are going for the longest oci, then o.a. is the perfect way for it.

After Blackstone's report we decided a change 12,000-14,000 is about right. I don't want to give the Irainians or the big oil guys any more of my $ than I have to. A lot of people seem to feel they know better than the engineers that built the engine. I will change per mans. reccomondation backed up by independent oil anyalisis.

Is the MONITOR oil analysis by Fleetguard still available? I had this done at 24,500 miles, with 9500 miles on the dino oil I was running at the time. The report came back good, and now that I have switched to synthetics and added a Frantz Oil Cleaner, I would like to go at least the 15K recommended for Schedule A.
I am thinking the kit was available from Geno's Garage for $12.50

I'm just about due for my next change (on a 7,500 OCI) with almost 50,000 on the truck. I might try this.

Does the $20 "standard test" from Blackstone cover it all? Is the "TBN" worth the extra $10 if I'm not trying to extend OCI? Maybe just for grins to confirm my OCI is OK?

The reason I said every 5k for analysis is because my truck usage is about to go down a bunch. I'm starting to ride the vanpool to work next week and save 13k/yr on mine. After that, it will take me about 1 1/2 years to put on 5k, just going for groceries, hardware and camping. My weekly shopping sprees to the city are still far enough to really warm it up for an hour or so. Craig

I just ordered my second test kit from Monitor (Fleetguard). The price is up to $14.95 from www.Genosgarage.com, but it also includes the additive package analysis at that price, which is a $10. option elsewhere. This test will differ from my first test in that I now have a Frantz Oil Cleaner in the system. Should be interesting (well, at least to me).
