Oil analysis back from blackstone...Internal coolant leak?
#19
Well, they tell me there was a seep around the block heater and that it was slow enough that it was evaporating before it could make enough to drip...That sounds like that could be it...they said there was actually a crack in it...so that SHOULD be replaced under warranty since the truck is 3 yrs old and has 35K on it...We'll see...
Anyhow, I do hope that was the problem and it sounds like it...a little over 2 gallons in 35K miles...so I don't think I have an internal leak...and Blackstone didnt' actually find antifreeze, so I'm hoping this cracked heater block is the problem...we'll see
My common sense tells me from looking at my analysis numbers that I might need to change the oil at say 5-6K...My oil usually remains clear (as clear as new) until 4-5K...it was pretty black at 7900, but you could still read the dipstick through it...My grandma's 04 is black as soon as you start it up so I don't know...Anyways, I'm kind of thinking (after reading the comment on 03WVJay's report that said the wear numbers look fine) that there is not a coolant leak in mine and that it was just the block heater...I'll change my oil a little sooner next time and see if the numbers go down...I'm going to need to change sooner anyways if I start burning WVO...
Keep posted...
