Which Oil?

I've Heard Pros And Cons For Rotella T. And Then I Hear Some Talking About Valvoline. I'm Hoping Someone Can Give Me Some Good Advice For Which Oil Works Better For Longevity Of The Motor. I've Got 5000 Miles And I Change Oil In My Vehicles About Every 3000.

This oil has worked for me.

I own a trucking company http://www.idtransport.com I currently have 3 2004 3500's. On the average we put about 13,000 miles a month on each truck. I have been using Rotella Synthetic. The milage leader of the 3 I bought in Jan 04 has 289,000 +. I have had zero motor problems and it still seems to have the same power as it did 2 years ago. Although of late I have been mixing 2 gallons of the synth to 1 regular.

If you're changing the oil at 3000 then it won't make much of a difference which you use as long as its up to spec.

It might be the only one that YOU tried that didn't stink, but I've been happy with Delo, and guess what? It doesn't stink either. Sure hope the Royal Purple that I'm about ready to transition over to, doesn't stink.

Expect it to turn black. The dye they use to make it purple doesn't stay that color very long.

I've run WallyWorld SuperTech 15w40 in both my '99 and now my 04.5 with no problems whatsoever!!! The '99 has over 160k and her and still screaming !! And you can get it at Wal-Mart also!!! It's made either by Pennzoil or Quaker State I don't remember which. I ususally change the oil at 5k. Cheap insurance IMHO!!!

Based on conversations with a Lab Oil Tester/Tech at BlackstoneLabs.com he advised that they are all good and that the important thing is to change it regularly (10K is fine). Rotella T is as good as any and available at Walmart also.

Based on some polls here on oil brands used by Cummins truck owners on this board.....Rotella was at like 40 percent of total and the leader with the others mostly in the teens.

At 3000 intervals you could run anything through it and would not have any problems.
I change mine AFTER oil samples are done. Longest I believe I have gone is 25k on the same oil. Sample still came back good. 3k changes is a waste of resources. Always Rotella T non synthetic.

I use Rotella dino oil in the Dodge. I've got 528,000 miles on my Mack using the stuff. I put 625,000 on the last truck using Rotella. If it's good enough for the work truck, it's good enough for the play truck.

PS-If you want a truck the doesn't smell, you shouldn't have bought a diesel.
