OD lockout on the 2005 48re...
Man i sure would like to be able to lock out 4th gear on my 05. Is there a tsb on this yet? I would gladly give up the current tow haul mode to be able able to lock out 4th, esp. in windy, hilly 50 mph country. There has to be a way to do this . Anyone???`

You just cant lock it out on a stock 05 48re. Theres one guy trying to get a class action lawsuet going to make Dodge put it in the 05s . Was on this site I'm sure.
The 06s have the tow haul and 4th lockout . Seams all it would take is a reflash to update the 05s. But Dodge must give the info to the dealers before they know what to reflash. Just keep at the dealers or to Dodge. Dont feel too bad ,you cant lockout the hemies eather or the great ferd trans. The engineers are sleeping when they build a auto trans for a truck that you cant controle the gear selection when you need to. And they insult a good driver and show there ignorance, when they try to tell you the computer is so smart it will keep it in the right gear at the right time all the time, HAHA

See, I've been playing with this. There was someone a while back who said that his '05 acted just like the 06. I was cruising on the highway at about 60 the other day, and just hit the tow haul button. RPMs jumped up, and stayed there. It wouldn't upshift. Any one else try this?

check out the earlier threads in this forum we hashed this thing to death.
i have and several other have complained to our regional service reps the NHTSA our dealers etc.
if we had 50 or so we could do the class action
you can't lock out the od period. regional rep told me the pac brake option would chew up the tranny. because it was a p.o.s.
i finally decide to fix the pos myself with parts available from ats diesel performance here in denver
DC put together a real pile of parts imo
