"normal" oil usage?
What's considered "normal" oil usage for an '06 Cummins 325/ 610? Vehicles/ engines that I have owned over the years have run the gamut from Toyotas that never showed _any_ detectible usage to Fords whose engines worked very well but went through at least a quart every 1000 miles even when "young" and where the usage was (supposedly) an intentional feature of the design (to keep rings and top end well lubed, or so the story went). Thanks!

I've not noticed any oil useage with my '06 at all.
The level has always stayed right at the full mark and has never dropped. It does get black as coal really quick after an oil change but from what I'm told this is normal with diesels.

X2
Don't seem to be "using" any oil. Still at the full mark wher I put it when I did my oil change.

HA!
I got all you guys beat... my triple-stacked fueling box CTD actually MAKES oil, usually over a quart a day - which I just recycle back into the fuel tank (just tee the blowby tube into the tank vent )
I wonder if I should get a fuel pressure gauge, though - sounds like those twin lift pumps are workin' overtime!
All that stuff burns inside the cylinders, and it all smells pretty much the same - so why waste it?
How long do you think I should wait before adding any fresh oil?
I've only got about 25K miles on the new engine...
