It's funny you mention that. A few days ago I talked at length with a couple techs at both DDP and another injector supplier who uses Don M's service. A very well unknown secret is what ruins good/non defective injectors prematurely. DDP has seen very few pressure related problems on their honed tips even with dual CP3's and hot rodded singles pumps. Only seems to be a problem with stock tips and extra pressure. Said it has something to so with relieving stress fractures through honing and lowering/equalizing pressure curves accross the injector banks. Same thing with EDM tips, just the end prodict is reached a different way.

Now, here's the interesting part. Excessive Duration is what kills the bodies. Due to the increased time the plunger/acuator/selinoid is held open and cycled. Makes sense to me.

I totally understand the operations and theories on the honed tips and all that, but why is it that the only repetative injector failures that me and you have seen are guys with pressure boxes? If it truely was duration then mine should have crapped out long ago along with many others. There are plenty of us out here that strive to run duration and timing only boxes so it looks like one of us would have had an issue by now? Some one just needs to build a better body that can stand up to 35,000psi and market it! Could you imagine the cost? That or we just all need to P-pump our motors and be done with it! At the rate some guys are going through injectors they might come out cheaper to do that!

Yeah, good question. It's probly one we won't ever see an answer to any time soon either. And sometimes, things just simply wear out which I think is my case. Another factor I truely believe is fuel quality. Why is it injector problems allways go up 300% every fall when it turns cold? Nobody I talked to could give me a clear answer.

My theory is this:

A combo of colder thicker viscosity fuel combined with maybe a better cleaning action of winter blend fuels and the junk it dislodges, finds it way through the system and uncovers any and all weaknesses and causes failure.

That is a very good point on the matter. I am a firm believer that fuel quality is the most important part to start with! Its amazing what a little moisture will do to an injector.

I will take a 6 pack of new castle and we will call that even for the labor charge of R&R of your injectors. I will drink 3 of the new castles before I tear it down and the other 3 before I put it back together!
