New water pump, the old one was full of crud

Its not necessary... The conversation between you and me is that you can't see any single reason why its a good idea... I'm just trying to point them out..

I like to filter stuff.. threads like this are just more reasons why I like to filter stuff... In no way would the filter have saved the pump, but all that crud would have been caught in the filter.. thats good in my book.

It kind of looks to me like most of the rust and crud is on the outside of the sealing ring? Impeller and area inside the ring doesn't look too bad.

How did the engine side of things look?

I agree, the inside of the pump and housing were pretty good looking. The coolant that came out was nice and clean too, so I just reused it.

Yeah, the HOAT should be good for 5 years/100k. It kind of looked like water or muck got between the two housings, but stopped at that seal.
