new SS bosch or Remans 2003 injectors
suspect i finally swallowed an injector, engine got much louder for last 3 miles of driving this morning. noticeable detonation noise on interior of cab pulled off highway to inspect, idle was smooth and normal nothing out of the usual, did have heavy crank case stench / ventilation at shut down and at idle but that was i, no extra oil or diluted oil issues from initial inspection. shut truck off won’t restart, has fuel pressure to filter and CP3. Cranks will not fire is not throwing any codes. truck has 234k on original sticks 305/555 motor. suspect a cracked injector is bleeding off rail pressure preventing Rail pressure sensor from signaling. just a WAG suspicion right now can’t fully verify but since there is no mis fire or injector timing codes nor injection pump codes and i have good pressure on supply pump side what ever it is isn’t on the front end of culprits. Got to get a diagnostic tool on it to get more info and rail pressures etc before i make a decision and take action.
in the mean while taking a serious look at injectors to educate myself since I’ve been sleeping for 5 years from playing with my diesels. want to know a little bit about the new bosch SS bodies vs the bosch stock old bodies. most the threads I’m finding end quickly with guys saying buy F1 or some other brand and get a 100hp + injector and very little about stockers. I’m a big proponent of F1 and DDP never had issues with good quality remans but would like to understand the benefit of dropping the coin on dodge parts.com or with some other vendor on the new SS bodies, is it worth just buying a new set of stock replacement reman bosch sticks, or are the new factory stick really that much more piece of mind? will reman stockers suffice DDP etc?. $1600-2400 is a big spread and F1 at 2400- $3k for remans with an extra 50hp isn’t worth it to me for what this truck does when other options are in the 180 range and all bosch. Bosch has their motorsport uprated replacements at 2400-2600 which might also be worth a glance at only 25hp or 50hp increase nothing more and with those are those SS bodies or are they just reman soft metal bodies that have a new marketing program ........ since I’ve done fine for 10+ years on soft metal stockers really this truck has been sufficient with stock sticks, i like my mileage and have little need for any more HP in the current setup but am trying to fully understand the difference in the various injector options.
$385 a pc for stockers

vs $270 for remans?

I’m seeing spreads on remans with italian parts vs US parts spreading 1500 -1800 whats the scoop on various remans ...

Don at F1 will rebuild you back to stock specs. Also, no such thing as SS bodies. It is a newer body, but not SS. I went through Tim at TREdiesel to get mine done. F1 is only 2400 for complete rebuild and Flux 1 tips. Call Tim. He can help answer all of your questions. Stock rebuilds are a lot cheaper when you send your sticks to F1. I had mine done and back in 1 week.

guess where the SS comment originated from was several vendors list them as such
see on this link

they aren’t the only ones referring to the new bosch replacement injectors as SS so I’m a little confused and just wanting to get good clarification. i can give 2 ....s less about any additional hp but mileage and reliability are top on the list. i don’t want remans that’ll crap the bed 80k miles from now, you know how it works so just dying to get the details of what and why. I know F1 is the best but I’m not really looking for anything but stock in this case so F1 may not be the right fit.

Most dealers are still calling them stainless because most customers are, they want the sale and roll with it.
I personally wouldn't bother with remans, too many issues with them.
Find a dealer that can get you new BMS +50's, they are the marine 440 injector. They should be perfect for what you want, and the marine stuff is as good as you can get for OEM. Exergy sells them for $380, and I wouldn't be shocked if you can find them cheaper.
You shouldn't have a core charge if the injectors are new, then sell yours as cores for 500ish.
