new southbend rattles

Im pretty new to this six speed business. anyway i just put a sbc con ofe in my truck after 92000 miles on the stock one. put about 600 miles on this weekend, and now its rattling like the brand new throwout bearing is goin out? it feels like its grabbing and releasing while its in neutral and the pedal is released. anyone have any ideas? any help on this would be outstanding. im stumped

call Peter and ask him. My FE rattles just a little bit at idle, but it's not very noticeable until you push the clutch pedal in. It's kind of noisy in 4th, but that's the only gear that I can hear it in.

Angry

i have about 800 miles on my fe and it isvery noisy at idle sounds like a bad bearing in the trans. contacted sb they say the noise would go away after a couple of hundred miles but it is still very noisy. i am not real happy about this.

okay thanks. it just had me wonderin cause i know everything was installed right and it sounds like like exactly what your sayin. does yours grab at all when its in neutral? i think i might have a hydraulic problem , cause it gets real hard to get in gear when im in town stop and go drivin, and it feels like the clutch is grabbin when i let the pedal out and its in neutral

It shouldn't be grabbing at all when you push the clutch in. If it is touching, even barely it can make it difficult to shift into gear.

what do you mean by grabbing in neutral? if i push my clutch in my noise goes away because the disc is no longer spinning. i have no problems with shifting mine.

If the clutch disk doesn't fully lift off of the surface of the flywheel then it's still grabbing slightly.......my stocker did it so bad after the throwout bearing went out that I couldn't shift into reverse at all with it running...and if I had the truck in gear with the clutch fully in it would still try to go forward......pretty much forcing me to hold the brakes to stay still at a stop like you would an automatic.....
