new owner, maintenance advice
All, great discussion here, and I appreciate all the insight.
I'm new to the world of diesels. Got rid of me 2005 Tundra to get something that could handle my camper with ease. Finally decided on a 2006 3500 megacab. Would have preferred a 2500, but couldn't pass on the deal with this 3500. It has 92,000 miles, and has been babied. Retiree had it to pull his camper for the past 6 years.
Anyway, it is the 5.9, automatic tranny. With it approaching 100k, does anyone have any advice on any major maintanance items that I should address coming to this 100k milestone? My goal is to keep this baby for another 200k!
Thanks for any advice.

Do a complete service on it, including a coolant change, new belt, belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, and idler pulley bearing.
If you don't already, get yourself 2 sets of ramps that can hold 8,000 lbs per axle (16,000 lb ramps). You can do a lot of it yourself, pretty straight forward.

Change all fluids and filters. Basically get yourself on track for maintenance. Unless the previous owner has accurate records of everything done, you are better off starting with everything new. It will cost a couple hundred bucks but will put you way ahead of the game if you don't.
Second of all to DTR!!
And pictures of the new truck are always welcome here.

in addition to what has been mentioned.
you might change the brake fluid, power steering fluid, fan belt
shocks: ones on my old truck were gone at 75K, that is about how long they last, so if they have not been changed, they are ready.
check all the light bulbs
may need a good front end alignment
if you do all this and or have it checked you should be good to go.
good luck with your (new to you truck)
I got my 2005, 2500 from an old guy at 41K and had all these basic things checked, its a great truck,
I understand the only difference in a 2500 and 3500 is the 3500 has stronger rear spring paks, so other than that you may have a stiffer ride in the rear, not that much difference.
did you get the 3.73 or 4.10 differential?

3500 has one more leaf spring over the 2500, (rear) the only thing I have to add to this is get quality filters and oil`s, dont cheap out, I just did rear diff, trany, brake flued, and anti freeze, Im right at 100k I do the trany and rear diff every 30k, but I tow a 36ft 5th wheel. just pay`s to take care of it.

Mopar or Baldwin oil filters. AutoZone carries the Mopar for a resonable price. Cummins recommends Valvolene Blue 15-40 oil, but there are many other good ones out there. Also, new air filter. Put some DieselKleen injector cleaner in the fuel too.

To keep from hijacking this thread, you would be better off starting a new thread.
I will quickly say that since your sig says your truck is lifted, we will start there.
Back to the OP... The above about using good quality filters and fluids is a must. Pay a little more now or A LOT more later. searching here will give you hours (or days) of reading and make your hear hurt with all the information.
