new 600 overheating

My father in law has a 2004.5 600 4x4 2500 with the automatic trans. He is having problems with the engine temps getting up to 220 to 230 degrees. He pulls over and the the truck high idles to cool down to about 190. Any ideas besides having the dealer take a look?

On previous trucks, the tranny was to blame. Does this occur when towing?

If it happens empty, dump in two bottles of Redline Water Wetter and see what happens...

I'd say take it to the dealer. I've never heard of the tranny causing over heating problems before. I've gone through some hellacious temps before with my auto and never had a bit of an issue. Somethings not right. Maybe the thermostat is bad. I wouldn't put any additives in it till you take it to the dealer. They'd probably try and void the warranty because of it.
