Cool New 2005 Cummins!

I AM HERE TO SAY THAT I AM NOW A DODGE CONVERT! JUST TRADED IN MY 2005 CHEVY DURAMAX. THIS TRUCK HAD ABSOLUTELY NO POWER WHATSOEVER. JUST PICKED UP MY 2005 3500QC LARAMIE CTD AND CANNOT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE. THIS IS ACTUALLY A TRUCK! A REAL TRUCK WITH UNPRECEDENTED POWER. I AM SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO REALIZE WHO MAKES THE BEST HEAVY DUTY PICKUP. i PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2004 POWERSTROKE F350 AND IT BLEW 2 PISTONS AT 26000MILES. NO MORE THE CHOICE HAS BEEN MADE.
SINCE I AM NEW TO DODGE , IS MY ENGINE THE HO CUMMINS WITH THE 48RE TRANNY? JUST WANT TO LEARN THE INS AND OUTS FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW. THANKS

I believe all the 05 trucks are considered HO as they all are the 325 horse engine with 610 ft/lb torque. Welcome to the site.

yes you do, all 2004.5+ trucks are HO with either a 48re 4 speed auto or a NV-5600 6-speed or in 05 they introduced the G56 6 speed tranny, both being manuals of course. your 05 will have 325 HP/ 610 TQ

edit- torquefan beat me to it

Congrats! I'm still in Cummins euphoria as I bought a 2005 Dodge 2500 Quad 4x2, long bed last week. I'm always trying to think of excuses to do errands in it.

Yes, the power is awesome! I was climbing a grade above Sonora, Calif. on Saturday, and punched the accellerator while going about 60, and that Cummins shot me up the hill like I was flooring it going downhill.

I have about 1,000 miles on it since now. It had 231 miles on the odometer when I bought it, as it was a dealer swap that was originally from a Marysville, California Dodge dealer. I bought mine at South County Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge in Gilroy, California.

My SLT didn't come with rear carpet mats so that's on my list of goodies as well as some chrome-tubular side steps too. I've been looking for a camper shell, and have seen A.R.E., Snugtop, Innovation, Carryboy, Leer, and Vision so far. I'm a little confused as to which would be the best.

I did get a Line-X spray-on bedliner on Thursday. It looks beautiful. If Line-X is being used as a strong no-skid deck covering on our Nuclear Submarines, it must be good enough for my Dodge. lol

You got a 48re trans in your 2005 truck, not a 47re

Actually that was a signature screw-up, as I was aware of it being a 48RE. It was typo-error.
Thanks for calling it to my attention, I will change it.
