Need to sh*** a service dept

I had a 2149 code last week and the check engine light went out when the problem cleared up . I was told that thier was no way that the dealership could trouble shoot the truck unless it was still acting up.

I tried to explain what the code was and where to look but had no idea what I was talking about . And they wouldnt attempt to fix it.

What is the best way to get warenty work performed. Is cummings any help.

thanks

P2149 is "Fuel Injector Group 2 Supply Voltage Circuit".

My best guess is injector harness connection, or possibly valve cover gasket, which has the injector harness imbedded in it.

Here is a link to a list of codes:http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...s-p-codes.html

As far as getting a dealer to do what you want........

Here's my experience with a similar problem ... threw the same code several times. Truck would drop to three cylinders, run like chit, then it would clear up. Took it to a dealer with the check engine light on (after clearing it the first few times because the truck would "get better"). They replaced an injector and told me all is well.

Driving home, threw the code again, this time the truck didn't get better, back to the dealer ... replaced another injector. To make a long story shorter ... this kept going on until the last time I took it to them and told them it's not an injector and it's got to be in the harness. Then they tell me that i'm right, but unfortunatelly it's no longer covered under the warranty (chrysler and/or cummins no help). The electrical/wiring harness was only covered under the 3/30k year deal. The first time i took it to them it was still under warranty. Go figure and yes I was ******, as they told me "well ....sorry"

It ended up being the injector harness going from the ECM to the connectors by the valve cover. Ran all of the tests covered in the factory shop manual and it passed. Ended up being a short in the harness inside the connector at the ECM. My truck had an all black connector (which was different from the one next to it/grey). I ended up going to a different dealer and buying a new harness and to this day no problems (knocking on wood).

we see the code and most people think it is the harness but 90% of the time it is an injector.

2006 Mega with bowie triple crown vetbox

Finally I find some answers...and they are not at the dealer garage, that's for sure! I just had the #6 injector replaced and then it does check engine light and severe missing like before. Back to P2149 code and #6 injector with group 2 supply voltage circuit open. Don't know what that means. I am no mechanic--I am a horse vet and can't go on calls because my truck has about 20hp right now. I wonder if I could replace or clean/apply eletrical spray to those connectors myself? I suppose the #6 new injector could have went bad again. I know I have a bad TIPM but that is another story. The only signs from the TIPM (that I know of)is that the right blinker won't not work on trailers. Maybe I should just tell the dealer to replace the wiring. I love that when people tell me how to treat horses. (sarcasm) Frustrated though... Thanks for ideas in advance.
