I have an open diff in an American Axle 10.5" . I either would like to add a limited slip- about 500 in parts from dealer, or a locker - varies in price, but a little less work to install. Any opinions?

A locker would be my choice. I don't know of any manufacturers that make lockers for a 10.5 except Chrysler. I checked with Eaton about an E-locker for my 11.5 and was told since the 10.5 and 11.5 aren't to popular yet, they aren't making anything for them.

You can get a Trac-rite that will fit that axle from Chrysler. They came stock on the 06 Power Wagon. You'll probably have to spend a lot more than $500 though

 

Not really ! I can buy the Trac Rite Carrier for 434$ list price- actually I get 15% off, but anyhow, just have to set up the rear end again! Just takes a little time. Thought maybe a locker would be cheaper and easier to install.
