Is my clutch slipping ?
Okay, I have a 2004.5 2500 CTD 4x4 Quad Cab 6 sp. I've got 19,600 miles on the truck so far (will be 1 year old at end of March). My truck is completely stock (engine /drive train wise) and I do not tow anything. This has been the first manual tranny for me an a LONG time, so I want to check with everyone here.
I've noticed when accelerating hard in 2,3,4 gear, that when I hit the 2500-3000 rpm range that my truckwill hesitate/jerk if I hold steady in that RPM range. (you can think of it as putting your truck in 3, holding steady at 2700 RPM and tap the brake to get a slight pause jerk. That is the feeling that I get). I'm not sure if my clutch is slipping, or if the PCM is somehow defueling causing the hesitations. I'd like to not think that my clutch is slipping because it only has 19,600 miles on it. When this is happening, I don't see a surge/spike in the RPM which would indicate clutch slippage. Also, I don't think it is the PCM defuelling because I'm will below the redline of the motor.
I'm getting ready to take it to the dealer, but wanted to hit you guys up first before I handed it over to them.

Once you go over about 3100 the truck will start to defuel to keep from over doing it. If you dont think your getting that high in the rpm range and its still happening, change your fuel filter. Sounds like shes runnin out of fuel. If still no difference procede to your freindly dodge dealer.

I would say it's your fuel filter. I helped change a clutch on a 01 that the owner said the same thing as you. New clutch and no change. Remove and replaced the fuel filter and BAM ran like a champ.
