My brand new 2006 dodge 2500
Just picked up my new '06 this week, traded a trouble free '01 HO. I'm reading all these posts about injector problems, leaks, poor milage etc. and it's causing me worry. Anyone have an '06 that's troublefree? I'll sure feel better

my trouble free 06
I have a reg cab long bed 06 that so far has been trouble free. It only has about 2k miles on it and so far has no mods done yet. When I first got it I was getting about 14.5 mpg and now I am getting about 16 mpg. Maybe my foot is getting lighter.

Since getting mine reflashed, getting about 16 mpg mixed driving and 18+ all highway. Havn't towed with it since getting reflashed, but was getting 10 to 11 mpg with gross combined weight of about 22K. Hopefully will get about 1-2 mile per gallon better now when towing. No problems thus far except for my inital disappointment with fuel mileage. Much happier now. Like others said check into getting the latest flash.

I have a 2004.5 with the 600 H.O. I have 22,000 miles on it and have not had one issue. I keep up the regular maintenance at the dealership for record purposes. I now tow a 12,500 lb 5th wheel whenever we go camping, and the engine purrrrrs like a kitten. You will be satisfied with you Cummins.

Is the reflashing something done by the dealer? Do you know the cutoff date for whether or not your '06 has the newest program? I just picked up my '06 yesterday but since it is a megacab laramie 4x4 6 speed 3500 Dually, it was very hard to find and therefore am not sure when it was actually built (I haven't checked yet).
Does the reflashing matter on a 6-speed?

Relax.
Just turned 5k miles on my first diesel - w/o any problems. My miles per gallon started out in the 14 mpg range for the 1st 2k miles. But then, I also agressively drove down to Florida, hitting speeds of 110 (to test the guts of the beast). The power is intoxicating, isn't it ?
Since then I've calmed down, accelerate modestly, and abide by the main NC speed limit, 35 mph, and am getting a respectable 19 mpg. I keep the tank topped off to restrict H20 formation.
Worst thing that has happened is a paint chip. Any ideas on fixing that?
Am studying the Amsoil product line to see if it is actually worth paying
more (up front) in (alledgely) better maintenance activiites. I'm approaching the first oil change. Anyone have experiences with this?
Sorry to post such beginner stuff. Maybe there should be a newbie page for us computer geeks with money who have migrated to diesels just from reading specifications - and loving the numbers, etc....

Have 8K miles on my '06 trouble-free - other than speedo/odo not right since I got crazy and changed to 35" tires. Only about 13 mpg right now, but it's still not broken in. (my '04 took 10-12K miles before mpg got good) Had 60K on '04 with only lift pump (fixed), and rear axle seal (on-going, never fully fixed) problems - so hope to do as well with this one.
