multiple rearmains ***!

Ok I have had three seals put in. In less than 15000 miles please someone tell me what is going on. Is there something I'm missing. It has 116k I can feel air from the blow by tube at idle and then at 1500rpm it feels the same. I'm lost and am about to sell it yes yes because of a seal. Need input thank you chad

Not sure what it could be but a groove would cause that. After you replace the seal it holds for a while and then starts to leak. The only real way to fix it is pull the crank and have it polished out, unless it is too deep. I did this on a gasser V8 I built for my jeep. It was either try that and pray for no leaks or replace the crank.

If the seal area on the crankshaft is scored or undersized, a simple and acceptable repair would be to buy a rear main seal kit that includes a wear sleeve. Press the sleeve onto the crankshaft and install the oversized seal that comes with it. Problem solved.

However, on a 3rd gen truck, I believe there is an o-ring between the rear of the engine block and the adapter plate. Unlike the older engines, the adapter plate is contacted by engine oil, and this o-ring can cause a leak that resembles a rear-main seal leak. I would check this first.

Are there any oil galley plugs on the back of the block that could be leaking? Craig
