Mopar oil

Mopar oil
I called the dealer and they said they use "Mopar" 15/40.
Does anybody know who makes the Mopar oil and if it is actually one of the main brands then relabeled?
I already bought Delo 400 and the dealer said I can bring my own oil, but if the Mopar stuff is any good I may just use that and forget about it.
TIA

Dealership here in TX told me that the Mopar Diesel oil is Mobil, two days ago when I went in for my first oil change. Incidentally, anyone in the North Richland Hills area - $39.95 for the change and the service bay is open until 8:00pm at Allen Samuels on Loop 820. That's pretty darn close to "parts" on price...

wow, thats cheap! sure thats not the hemi price?
My first dealer oil change was on them, the second one was $100 canadian, plus another $100 canadian for the fuel filter change. Crazy I know, my only excuse was that it was -33 celcius, but still.
That being said they will NEVER see me again!

If you read this thread, you might change your mind about taking your truck to the dealer for a simple oil change. I say go buy some Shell Rotella or Delo or oil of your choice and do it yourself. It's cheaper and you KNOW it is being done with the proper care by somebody who cares about your truck!

But then there's the time (I work 7 days) and having to dispose of all the oil.
The dealer is more convenient and it builds good will should I have a problem outside of warranty.

Lance I understand. Sometimes it's easier to just let them do it and pay. I would at least try to go watch the oil guy do it and chat with him. Be friends with them, but watch them like a hawk. Good luck.

I'm going to stop by and chat with the service manager etc.
My dealer sponsors a local Dodge Ram diesel club so maybe I can get some info. through that channel.
I haven't worked out the numbers but based on buying my own oil from Kmart (I think it was about $30) and the discount the dealer would give me for bringing my own oil, I think it is about even. So I wouldn't really be paying any more to bring it to the dealer.
I'm at 1,400 mi. and plan on doing the first change around 2K, so I have a little time to make a decision.

used oil
LanceK - don't worry about the used oil disposal... we take all our leftover fluids from all the vehicles and dump them in a steel tank then whatever doesn't evaporate or spontaneously combust in the TX sun gets siphoned out as weedkiller or to run the neighbor's farm tractor Don't worry - he's a Ford guy
Used oil worked pretty good to creosote the old horse barn before the big fire - man, that was the biggest BBQ I've EVER seen ... good eatin' though
