Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40

I changed my oil today and the local auto parts store was closed. I usually use Rotella but I ran to the local mobil station and picked up some Delvac. It said it was CI-4+ so I figured it was fine to use. Anybody else have any experience with this oil. Is it Good Stuff? It definitley doesn't have the stink of rotella though. Nice! Do you guys think that it is better than Rotella? Thanks

I doubt either one is or can be proven to be better than the other. I believe they are both fine oils.

I use Rotella, but I think the important thing is to change it often (5k) and use a good known brand.

I have used both, but prefer the Delvac 1300. I find the Delvac does not have the burnt oil smell like the Rotella. Either is fine.

Both generally regarded as "good stuff", and they are 2 of the "big 3". 3rd being Chevron Delo 400.

It's the million mile oil! Probably top 5 most popular truckers oil. Works fine for me! On oil analysis it scores right up there with Valvoline Premium Blue, and Rotella. The CI-4+ standard makes these oils all Very similar.
Cheers
Mike

I just put this in my 98.5 today. I'm assuming it's backwards compatible for those of us driving jalopies?

Got some a Walmart a couple weeks ago. They must have just gotten in a batch because it was CJ-4 rated for the new emissions standard. I flip between Rotella and Delvac but when I saw the Delvac at the new rating, I went with it this time. I think they're all pretty good. The additive packages are similar to make the rating. The base stock is what can vary. I'm sure the others will catch up to the CJ-4 rating as soon as the stock gets bought up off the store shelves....
