I have a gallon of gas/oil mixture for my snowblower. The gas is a year old and I need to get rid of it and put fresh gas in my snowblower. Would anything bad happen if I dump it in my Dodge--today it would be a 20-1 mix?

I would say no problem. Others may say NO WAY! I know of people running completely on gas. I may have not been pretty, but the truck miraculously still runs good years later. I've heard that 20% gas is pretty safe with no harm. At 20:1 you would have 5% and it has oil.

I would say don't do it. Gas is contains octane and diesel contains cetane, mixing the two creates a negative effect on each other. Not to mention that gas is hard on all the high dollar lubrication sensative fuel system components. Not worth the $3.00 savings of using the gas. Save it to light a new years bon-fire.

Just add the gas to a gas burner.

I wouldn't dump the whole gallon in at one time but would add a quart per tank of diesel. Gasoline will clean the injectors and makes a great biocide.

i'm with this right here, don't do it man, diesel engines and diesel injection componets are just not made for it. i think you'll do more damage than good. just make a nice fire!


...even though diesel starts fires way better anyway.

man i dont see a huge problem with it, my grandpa puts anything possible in his 97( but hes crazy) kerosene, lighter fluid, old gas and oil! haha the thing still runs like a champ tho

i know that the ratio is a little different but a rookie added 15 gallons of gasoline to a 60 gallon diesel tank. the truck was ran for 2 days until it wouldnt run anymore. total carnage: 1 new fuel pump, 1 new lift pump, 6 new injectors and a in-frame overhaul...cost $12,800. heres the kicker. the motor had a $20,000 inframe less than a year ago. i know that this is a 3:1 mix and yours will be a lot less but i say dont do it.

i like the bonfire idea...

When I worked on jet aircraft in the military, I found many people are confused about the misconception about jet fuel. The fuel used in most planes...not so good for ordinary vehicles. It's mostly a diesel/ kerosene mixture, has a pretty high flash point, and is used to cool and lubricate many components of the pumps. (This is aircraft technology is probably sounding familliar to many in DTR.) Gasoline on the other hand, not so viscous, and due to its lower flash point can sometimes burn when you might not want it to. Like in your cylinders when the vehicle is warm...(Uh...gassers call this...dieseling.) I think our trucks components were not designed with this thought in mind.

I'll buy that for a 97, but for a 3G HPCR that's asking for trouble. I wouldn't do it.

I accidently pumped a gallon and a half of gas into my truck once before I realized I didn't have my hand on the GREEN handle .

I topped it off w/diesel, didn't notice any change in power or economy. That was two years ago and she still runs like a champ!
