My friend has an 07 3500 cc lb w/ a 6 spd 35,000 miles on it. He has a bully dog triple dog downloader and a edge EZ module. His truck has started to misfire, so he pulled the chips, and it continued to do it. When it first started, it only did it every now and then but it is getting worse. Does anyone have anythoughts about this, or has anyone experenced it? Thanks in advance.

 

does it only do it at certain RPMs? my first thought would be injectors.

 

it does it through the whole rpm band. It just does it at random times. and it doesnt do it long enough to check it w/ a temp gun

 

any white smoke? any extended cranks on start up?

 

Nope everything seems normal. Its just wierd, it only does it for 30seconds or so???

 

Does it only happen under heavy throttle?

 

No it has happen right after start up, idle, cruising, just random times

 

I am at a loss on that one. I usually think that if it is missing at all, injectors are an issue. if it is fine under heavy throttle, I would assume the pump is fine. is your buddy runnin additives? has the fuel filter been checked/changed? maybe hook it up to a load and get those injectors workin, clear some stuff out.


I dont know though, maybe someone else will chime in on this one.

 

It sounds electrical in nature. I would check the connection where the edge was plugged into. Look for loose or pins that are not at same distance out (or in) on the plugs.

 

Okay and not sure of the additive ill check, and ill tell him to check the connections. ya its pretty wierd and the truck shop that i work at is a cummins dealer but we cant hook the trucks up b/c dodge set it up through there stuff. jerks lol
