Mileage and value of 04?

I am looking at buying an ex-company truck as a DD. The truck is an 04 3500 Crew cab, long box, 305HP, 6spd, w/4.10's. Power everything! Like I said it was a work truck and the interior is dirty, the bumpers are tweaked a little, and it needs at least one injector (smokes white & a miss on cold startup clears up once warm). Anyone want to let me know what they are getting for milage with a setup like this? How about a price "as-is"?

Heres a cell phone pic of the truck...

How many miles?

Fuel Mileage?

Well, my 03 HO auto with 3.73s and 35s gets 16-18 daily driving. 18-20 MPG on the highway empty.

I would expect 17ish with 4.10s

The truck has 138xxx on it. It was used hard, pulled a heavy trailer and driven in the mud and driven on jobsites by employees.
As for the mileage, my 92 in my sig. will get that, was hoping it would be at least sniffin the low 20's with mixed driving.

I would say that truck is worth 13-15kish? Just a guess

What do they want to sell it for?

If you can get a good deal on it, and know its been maintained, then it would be a good truck.

the miles arent that awful bad ive seen alot worse. the truck doesnt look that bad in the pic other than they may have ripped the spoiler off the bumper I would get a new one to put back on it. if the price is right it can be fixed just keep in mind injectors arent dirt cheap for a common rail like the old trucks are. formula one can fix injectors or you can buy new ones seperately

Not a good comparison, BUT...

the "OL" just picked up a 2005 quad cab/auto/LB/4x4. Came with edge juice w attitude, leveling kit, 35/12.50/17 pro comps, cold air intake, pipe, brake controller, step bars, chrome detail package, SLT interior. 92,000km or 57,500 miles. Purchase price was 23,500 CDN. Truck is basically loaded except for leather, tight, handles well, new ball joints and knuckle u-joints already. Had to pop in a center U-joint and steady bearing, otherwise a solid overall unit. No dents, dings, abrasions, not otherwise folded spindle or mutilated.

just food for thought.

I won't spend more than $10K on it. I can't afford more than that, and it will need a couple grand worth of work before winter. I haven't looked into inj. prices yet, but I know they aren't cheap. Does anyone have a 6spd and 4.10's? I really am curious about the est. mileage.

Ok, so did it get better or worse when you added the "chip"? How about the tires? I think the motors would be the same, but I am not sure?

I wouldn't give more than $10k for it. Company trucks get the cr@p beat out of them! Plus you know it needs work. Unless you are going to tow heavy, 4.10's are too tall for normal 80 mph hwy driving.
There's alot of good deals and alot of trucks for sale now, but doubt you could get into a nice 3rd gen for $10k.

I "know" most of the guys that drove it for the company, but I also know how they drove it... That is why I said I wouldn't spend more than 10K on it. I still have to get a price, but I am in no hurry, and neither are the owners. So until I know I can afford it or I get rid of my truck and car, its will be sitting in the same place it has for the last 1.5 years.

I did the Smarty and 35 tires about the same time and the speedo is corrected with the Smarty, also doubled checked with a GPS. The number I gave you, is when empty and I'm not Hot Roding around.

Assuming this is box standard and not modified, your best mileage will occur at 45 mph. Speeds more or less will reward you with less mpg. Optimum is 17mpg and worst, without load, is 14 mpg. This truck is identical to the late model 2003 without a cat. The computer provides a 2 event injector cycle, pre and main. The 2004.5 model has a cat and has the 3 event cycle, pre, main and post, which does nothing to help the mileage, as the post cycle only keeps the cat hot. If you run a timing box, you will see an increase of about 1 mpg across the ranges above, assuming the engine is in good condition.

So the tuners and such will help mileage. I would like it to be in the low 20's. Anything less and it wouldn't pay. I am assuming all these numbers are hand calculated, not sure if the overheads are very accutate, but if I look at the one in the truck should I assume its high by at least 1MPG?
