Mercedes/Daimler question about 2006 truck

I have tried to search every thing I can find before asking the question here but I finally gave up.
Did Mercedes/Daimler have a hand in the 2006-early 2007 Automatic Transmission for the Cummins truck? I've heard they did but I can't find a link any where substantiating this rumor.

don't me up to badly for asking!

Not sure about the AT itself, but the MB ATF is not on the "approved" fluid list.

Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see, you will have less stress.

Short answer, no. The 48RE is the evolution of the 727 that has been in use in Dodge\Plymouth\Chrysler vehicles since 1965. MB had nothing to do with it.
