MEGA CAB turbo back (exhaust options)

Hi all,

New to the site and I recently purchased a mega cab. I've been looking around for a four inch turboback exhaust. I just want to derestrict the truck to reduce backpressure on the turbo. The truck has a 4" existing - has anyone cut the cat and the muffler out and welded in 4"?

What are some of the better (stainless) aftermarket options?

Thanks!

I just cut the muffler out of my '05, replaced it with a piece of pipe...
Sounds great, left the cat on mine, and might remove it sometime in the future, but it sounds decent without being too loud....

If you arent going crazy with any mods yet, id just delete the cat/muffler.
Straight piped sounds great

Unless I misunderstand your question, the 06's have a 4" complete system already from the factory. (Turbo back) If you are keeping it stock you will be fine. Even slight mods you'll be ok.

I think rockcrawler304 is right, the 06’s have a 4-inch from the factory. My 06 q-cab does and it’s a quality system right from the factory. I still can’t see the point of a cat, either in a home or on a diesel. I’m leaning towards an MBRP cat delete pipe (off road only) and a proven manufacture’s cat back. The only problem I have is I love the factory black colored tailpipe. I should be doing something soon, and I’ll let you all know how it works out. Good luck.

Anything past the cat I was told will not effect your warranty. BUT the cat is EPA and the dealer told me it could void it if removed.

Where's a good place to order some 4" pipe online? I can't find any at my local muffler shops?

Thanks for the replies all! It does have 4" piping but there are restrictions and sharp angles. I may cut the muffler out for now as that is probably the biggest restriction...

Cant decide if I want to cut off the cat AND put the 5" setup I have on it, or just stick with the 4"

Not pulling the cat till I get the sound deadener on the floor.Right now the pipe resonates pretty bad.

Kinda wish I had the rubber floors right now
